চট্টগ্রামের বাকলিয়া থানাধীন মেরিন ড্রাইভ রোডের একটি বাড়ির সামনে থেকে তিনটি বিদেশি আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র এবং ৩০ রাউন্ড গুলি উদ্ধার করেছে মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ (ডিবি)। উদ্ধার হওয়া অস্ত্রগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে—দুটি ব্রাজিলের তৈরি তরাস ৯ এমএম পিস্তল ও একটি ইংল্যান্ডের ওয়েবলি রিভলভার।

সোমবার (৫ মে) রাত সোয়া ৯টার দিকে গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে পুলিশের একটি ডিবি টিম অভিযান চালিয়ে ময়লার স্তূপে পরিত্যক্ত অবস্থায় এসব অস্ত্র উদ্ধার করে। মঙ্গলবার (৬ মে) চট্টগ্রাম মহানগর পুলিশ (সিএমপি) এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বিষয়টি গণমাধ্যমে নিশ্চিত করে।

📌 উদ্ধারকৃত অস্ত্র ও লুটের সূত্র

চট্টগ্রাম মহানগর গোয়েন্দা বিভাগের (উত্তর-দক্ষিণ) পুলিশ পরিদর্শক মোহাম্মদ ইসরাফিল মজুমদার বলেন, উদ্ধার হওয়া ব্রাজিলের পিস্তল দুটি ও ৩০ রাউন্ড গুলি গত বছরের ৫ আগস্ট কোতোয়ালি থানার অস্ত্রাগার থেকে লুণ্ঠিত হয়, এবং রিভলভারটি সিএমপির কোনো একটি থানার মালখানা থেকে চুরি হওয়া অস্ত্র হতে পারে বলে প্রাথমিক তদন্তে জানা গেছে।

তিনি বলেন, “আমরা প্রাথমিকভাবে নিশ্চিত হয়েছি যে অস্ত্রগুলো পুলিশের গুদাম বা অস্ত্রাগার থেকেই লুট করা হয়েছে। কে বা কারা এসব ফেলে গেছে বা ব্যবহারের পরিকল্পনা করেছিল, তা খুঁজে বের করতে তদন্ত চলছে।”

🚨 গ্রেফতার হয়নি কেউ

অভিযানে এখনো পর্যন্ত কাউকে গ্রেফতার করা যায়নি বলে জানিয়েছে পুলিশ। তবে এলাকাটি ঘিরে নজরদারি এবং তদন্ত কাজ জোরদার করা হয়েছে। এ ঘটনায় একটি নিয়মিত মামলা দায়েরের প্রস্তুতি চলছে।

চট্টগ্রাম মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশের (সিএমপি) একজন ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তা জানান, এ ধরণের অস্ত্র উদ্ধার বড় ধরনের অপরাধ পরিকল্পনার ইঙ্গিত দিতে পারে। বিষয়টি গুরুত্ব দিয়ে খতিয়ে দেখা হচ্ছে, এবং জড়িতদের শনাক্তে গোয়েন্দা নজরদারি বাড়ানো হয়েছে।

🛡️ নিরাপত্তা হুমকি ও পুলিশ সতর্ক

চট্টগ্রাম শহরে ইতিপূর্বেও নানা সময় আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র উদ্ধারের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। তবে সরকারি অস্ত্রাগার থেকে লুণ্ঠিত অস্ত্র পরিত্যক্ত অবস্থায় উদ্ধার হওয়ায় পুলিশের ভেতরেও উদ্বেগ দেখা দিয়েছে।

সিএমপি’র পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, এই অস্ত্রগুলো কোনো অপরাধে ব্যবহারের আগেই উদ্ধার হওয়ায় বড় ধরনের বিপদ এড়ানো সম্ভব হয়েছে। কিন্তু অস্ত্রগুলো কিভাবে লোপাট হলো এবং এতদিন কোথায় ছিল—সেসব প্রশ্নে এখনো ধোঁয়াশা রয়ে গেছে।

3 Foreign Firearms and 30 Rounds of Ammunition Recovered in Chattogram, Linked to Police Armory Loot

Detectives from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) recovered three foreign firearms and 30 rounds of ammunition from the front of a house on Marine Drive Road in the Baklia police station area. The weapons include two Brazilian-made Taurus 9mm pistols and an English Webley revolver.

The operation was conducted around 9:15 PM on Monday (May 5) based on a tip-off. The weapons were found abandoned in a garbage pile. CMP confirmed the recovery in a press release on Tuesday (May 6).

🔍 Source of the Weapons: Linked to Police Armory Loot

Inspector Mohammad Israfil Majumder of the CMP Detective Branch (North-South) said that the two Taurus pistols and the 30 rounds of ammunition were looted from the Kotwali police station armory on August 5 last year. The revolver is believed to have been stolen from the evidence locker of another CMP police station, based on preliminary investigation.

He added, “We are fairly certain that the weapons were looted from police storage. Investigations are ongoing to identify who abandoned them and for what intended use.”

🚨 No Arrests Yet

So far, no suspects have been arrested, but surveillance and investigation have been intensified in the area. A regular case is being prepared for filing.

A senior CMP officer stated that the recovery of such weapons could indicate a major criminal plot. The case is being taken seriously, and intelligence surveillance has been increased to identify those involved.

🛡️ Security Threat and Police Concern

Chattogram has seen multiple instances of illegal arms recoveries in the past, but the fact that these weapons were looted from a government armory and later found abandoned has raised serious concerns within the police force.

CMP noted that recovering the weapons before they were used in any crime has likely averted a major threat. However, questions remain about how the weapons disappeared from the armory and where they were kept until now.
